What Cottages of Madison offers

Our attentive and compassionate caregivers are staffed 24/7 in our three cottages and are trained to support all daily living activities for any level of memory care. Through a holistic philosophy that addresses residents’ total well-being, and a robust offering of programs and services, we focus on helping your loved one enjoy life, retain their current capabilities and stay safe and comfortable. Our Age-in-Place Care Program means that we are equipped to provide increasing levels of assistance, so that residents and family members can rest easy knowing that all of their needs can be met right here—without moving to another location. Our small, intimate cottages maintain low caregiver-to-resident ratios, allowing caregivers to really focus on each resident’s needs.

Our spacious property gives residents the perfect balance of private and community amenities. Through well-appointed apartments with beautiful views, residents have adequate private living space, with access to an array of community amenities at an arm’s reach.

Care and Support Services

Each resident will receive a Level of Care assessment prior to admission, and periodically during their stay, in order to modify and adjust their personalized care program and continue to help them function and live at their highest potential.  During this initial assessment, we work closely with family members to identify their loved one’s abilities and their functional deficits, while getting to know the person's life story.  This life story and the details of their experiences are then incorporated into their individualized daily routine. This ensures that each person's precious long-term memories are being accessed and that staff is incorporating them into the resident’s living and leisure activities, to maintain the highest level of cognitive function.

We partner with a physical therapy provider who has an office on our campus and can work with residents on a regular schedule or an as-needed basis. We can also provide (or can arrange for) specialty services that cover almost anything a resident may need now or in the future. These services and the costs associated with them, are provided up-front to residents and their families so that you can choose what works best for your loved one’s needs.

Enrichment

According to a study by the MacArthur Foundation, about 70% of physical aging and about 50% of mental aging is determined by lifestyle—including the choices we make every day. Rather than being a process of steady decline, aging can be a time of growth if we maintain our physical and mental skills, reduce our risk for disease and injury, and stay productive and engaged with life.

The Cottages of Madison can help with everyday life enrichment by offering residents the opportunity to stay active and connect with others who may be living with similar cognitive diagnoses. We focus on stimulating the mind and body through purposeful activities that support each resident’s existing abilities.

We keep our activities calendar posted so that residents and family members can stay apprised of the events and opportunities we offer to help them live life to the fullest:

  • Be as active as you like with basketball, fly ball, ping pong, noodle ball, bean bag toss, balloon toss, walker’s club or Wii bowling

  • Challenge your mind and memory with themed trivia, spelling bees along with guessing games, sorting games, mix and match and Pictionary

  • Relax and socialize with coffee chats, movies, snack and chats, ice cream socials and arm chair travel

  • Tap the left side of your brain through creative coloring, arts and crafts, baking and decorating and seasonal-themed projects.

  • Indulge yourself in “Movies and Manicures”

  • Refine your vocal skills or just enjoy the melodies at themed musical performances and sing-alongs

  • Keep the faith at our monthly Catholic mass

  • Try your hand at picture bingo or the traditional version

  • Celebrate your special day with members of your community at our monthly birthday celebrations and participate in a bounty of holiday-themed events and programs
